Ahmad Alameddine pleads not guilty to Sydney assault charge
A man who travelled to Syria to help bring back the ISIS brides and was arrested at a Sydney airport on his return has fronted court in southwest Sydney.
Ahmad Alameddine, 42, appeared before Bankstown Local Court on Thursday, where he pleaded not guilty to common assault and stalk/intimidate intending fear of physical harm.
Police allege the assault happened at a plaza on Chapel Rd, Bankstown, on December 14 in 2025.
It’s alleged Alameddine assaulted a 43-year-old man, with the court hearing how the police tried to find Alameddine in March, but were told he was overseas.
Alameddine, who is a relative of Sydney ISIS bride Janai Safar, had worked alongside Melbourne man Abraham Abbas, brother of Melbourne ISIS bride Kawsar Abbas, to bring them back to Australia.
Ahmad Alameddine has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The collaboration to secure their relatives’ release and facilitate their departure from Al-Roj camp to Australia had been going on since at least February.
During the chaos of the return of the ISIS brides, the Australian Federal Police arrested Alameddine just before 7pm.
Alameddine had been on the same Qatar flight as Safar, and was escorted off the plane shortly after 6pm when AFP officers swooped in.

There he was charged with common assault and stalk/intimidate intending fear of physical harm.He was granted conditional bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today, where his lawyer Michel Areiji entered pleas of not guilty on his client’s behalf.
The matter was heard before Bankstown Local Court on Thursday. The court also heard how Alameddine is allegedly planning to return to Syria, however this would be difficult as he has already surrendered his passport, and is barred from going near any international airports as part of his bail conditions.
